So, if you are interested to know about the 2034 FIFA World Cup then welcome to this post. Let's start then,

Why 2034 FIFA World Cup is so special?

Among the many other reasons, the 2034 World Cup will be a milestone of "The Silver Jubilee” of the FIFA World Cup.  Meanwhile, as there is no lack of interest among football fans in this world's biggest event, the competition is going on among the organizers to host the 2034 World Cup.

While previous FIFA World Cups have traditionally featured 32 teams, the 2026 World Cup (which will be hosted by three North American countries, Canada, Mexico, and the United States), will feature 48 teams. But so far it has not been decided how many teams will participate in the 2030 or in the 2034 FIFA World Cup (traditional 32 or 48).

Although bidding for the 2034 World Cup host selection has not yet begun, some early bids have been proposed. According to FIFA, a host may be selected in 2027. However, here is a list of those interested in bidding to host the 2034 World Cup:

ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)

The first bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup or Silver Jubilee World Cup was proposed as a joint bid by members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). According to FIFA rules of 2017, Qatar (as World Cup host) 2022, and 2030 World Cup cannot be held in Asia (AFC). Hence, the first bid of AFC (Asian Football Confederation) members could be made to host the 2034 World Cup, the Silver Jubilee World Cup.

Thus, the idea of a combined ASEAN bid had been mooted as early as January 2011, at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' meeting. Later in 2013, the former president of the Singapore Football Association, and the president of the Malaysian Special Olympics, recalled the idea for ASEAN to jointly host a World Cup.

Although Malaysia withdrew from the alliance, but Singapore and other ASEAN countries continued to campaign to submit a joint bid to host the 25th edition of the World Cup in 2034. In February 2017, during a visit of FIFA President Infantino Yangon, Myanmar, he discussed launching a joint bid. As a result, the Vice General Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association declared that Indonesia and Thailand would lead a consortium of ASEAN countries for the 2034 FIFA World Cup's host bidding. He also added that due to geographical and infrastructural considerations, with the expanded format (48 teams in the 2026 World Cup), at least two or three ASEAN countries would be in a position to host the combined matches of the 2034 World Cup.

However, in June 2018, Malaysia again joined the ASEAN bidding, while in 2019, the prime Minister of Thailand announced that, all 10 nations of ASEAN will launch a joint bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. That was the first ever to submit a ten-country joint bid to host a World Cup in the history of the FIFA World Cup.

In 2019, five ASEAN countries, led by Thailand, formally bid to host the 2034 World Cup, which was accepted as the first bid to host the 2034 World Cup. In 2022, ASEAN's chairman said he would call on ASEAN leaders to bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034 or 2038.
